 Schools have been using Palm handhelds and Pocket PCs for a number of years. Devices running the Palm Operating System or Windows Mobile are called PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants). Nowadays smartphones are running Palm and Windows Mobile, but there are still handhelds available that are not phones. PDAs make for great learning tools. There are dozens of educational applications for these devices and lots of resources for teachers.
